Arsenal transfer news: Shakhtar Donetsk Mykhaylo Mudryk stance revealed as Chelsea eye 'hijack'

Your morning Arsenal transfer round-up on Saturday, December 31.

Shakhtar 'willing' to accept Mudryk offer

Arsenal have been told that Shakhtar Donetsk are willing to sell Mykhaylo Mudryk if a bid arrives that matches the Ukrainian clubs value of their star asset.

Edu and Mikel Arteta are likely planning their next move for Mudryk and while Shakhtar's stance on selling the winger has remainder firm, CEO Serhii Palkin has given Arsenal a fresh boost that a deal can be agreed in January.

Palkin told Shakhtar’s website: "Negotiations are continuing. We receive offers, but they are not the ones we would like to see on our table. We are open to negotiations, ready to exchange ideas and figures. If we will agree, then let it be so. If we will not, then let it be another time."

Chelsea considering Mudryk hijack

Chelsea are reportedly considering hijacking Arsenal's move for Mudryk amid Todd Boehly's plan to transform Graham Potter's side.

According to The Guardian, the Blues are keen on snatching the winger from the Gunners' grasp after registering an interest in the 21-year-old. The report states that Chelsea could now pose a serious threat to Mikel Arteta's plans to acquire the winger's services.

Defender eyed amid contract dilemma

Arsenal have identified Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain target Milan Skriniar as a potential acquisition with the Inter star set to be a free agent in the summer of 2023 when his contract expires.

If Inter are unable to reach terms over a new agreement, PSG looked set to be the team to capitalise and thus agree a bargain deal for Skriniar, but Mikel Arteta's Arsenal have now put their name in the hat.

Calciomercato are reporting that Arsenal are looking for a new defender and that they may be able to overtake PSG in the transfer race, with that duo the only clubs referenced in the report as Spurs seemingly lose ground in their pursuit of Skriniar.
