Brighton are set to sign midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud amid the threat of Moises Caicedo or Alexis Mac Allister leaving the club.
Arsenal will once again push to land Ecuador international Caicedo this summer as one of their top targets to replace the outgoing Granit Xhaka, while Liverpool have been strongly linked with World Cup winner Mac Allister.
Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi has all-but confirmed the 27-year-old’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer, with a deal reportedly in place.
“I know very well Dahoud but he's not official at the moment,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
“He's not official yet and we will speak about him later, in the next press conference.”
After a reporter said “it sounds like he's coming”, De Zerbi replied: “Yes, because we have no secret and I like him and I would like to work with him.”
De Zerbi put Arsenal and Liverpool fans on alert on the weekend by admitting that Brighton “will lose some players”, with Caicedo and Mac Allister “maybe” those up for grabs.
However, he has clarified that there is only the potential for the club to do a deal for its stars - with nothing certain.
“I didn’t say it like this,” he said. “I said it can be the possibility to lose some big players, like Caicedo maybe, Mac Allister, [Kaoru] Mitoma, I don’t know.
“But we are Brighton and I know the policy of my club and we have to be ready to bring in other good players with the right characteristics.”
