Arsenal transfer news: FIVE Gunners targets make list of top 10 stars who could move this summer

As another long season draws to a close, another summer of transfer carnage is ready to ensue.

The summer window opens for business officially on June 14, and a handful of big-name stars from around the world will be on the move as ever.

While some transfers, like those of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid and Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool, look set to be announced imminently, others are less sure of their eventual destination.

Here, Standard Sport looks at 10 of the biggest names who could be on the move this summer, and what their current situations are.

Harry Kane

Not since Alan Shearer — the man whose Premier League goals record Kane is trying to beat — has an Englishman been the subject of so much transfer speculation year after year.

Kane has one year left on his Tottenham contract. He could try and push Daniel Levy to let him leave this summer, earning the club valuable funds; he could leave on a free next summer; or he could stay at Spurs for the rest of his career. Manchester United and Bayern Munich want him.

Declan Rice

David Moyes says there is a “good chance” Rice will leave the Hammers this summer, and that feels like an understatement. Rice is valued by West Ham at £150million, and he has plenty of suitors including United and Bayern. Arsenal, however, remains Rice’s likeliest next destination.

He is out of contract next summer but is expected to have left West Ham by the start of next season.

Ilkay Gundogan

From one Arsenal midfield target to another, it was in the middle of the pitch this season that the eventual Premier League runners-up struggled for depth. With Granit Xhaka set to depart, Manchester City ace Gundogan has been heavily linked with the Gunners.

Out of contract this summer, he may sign an extension with City, but Arsenal and Barcelona are hoping to prise him away instead.

Wilfried Zaha

Crystal Palace’s undisputed talisman is another player whose contract expires next month, and he has rejected the club’s attempts to extend his stay in south London in the past.

Zaha is currently mulling over their latest offer — a £200,000-a-week deal that would make him Palace’s highest-ever earner by some margin. There is plenty of interest in the Ivorian, who is yet to decide his future.

Lionel Messi

Messi remains, as he always was, in the driving seat of his own destiny. His relationship with Paris Saint-Germain seems to have broken down, and a move to the MLS or Middle East may not be his favoured option.

Barcelona manager Xavi, Messi’s long-time team-mate, wants the World Cup winner to return to the Catalan club, but it is unclear whether they could afford his astronomical wages.

James Maddison

Now that Leicester have been relegated from the Premier League, their most prized assets will start to be sold off. England international Maddison is undoubtedly their most valuable player, and could be sold for as little as £40m because his contract has just one year left to run.

Arsenal, Newcastle and Spurs are said to be monitoring the situation, while Leicester may also lose Wilfred Ndidi and Harvey Barnes this summer.

Karim Benzema

Benzema has spent 14 successful years at Real Madrid, mopping up a glut of titles at the Bernabeu. However, he has reportedly been offered a lucrative two-year deal worth £346m from a club in the Saudi Pro League, where former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo is earning a pretty penny at Al-Nassr. He is considering his options.

Mason Mount

Chelsea value Mount at £75m, and the England midfielder is reportedly up for sale this summer, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United all firmly interested in securing his signature. His sale may be used to free up cash for Chelsea to spend on the likes of Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

David Raya

Brentford manager Thomas Frank said this week that David Raya is the club’s only player for sale. Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been linked with the Spanish international, who Brentford value at £40m. He will leave the Bees this summer.

Moises Caicedo

Caicedo has played his last game for Brighton, who rejected Arsenal’s second offer worth £70m for the Ecuador midfielder back in January. Arsenal remain interested in Caicedo, particularly if they miss out on Rice, and if Chelsea fail to sign Ugarte, they too would consider Caicedo a viable, if costly, alternative.
