Arsenal will soon hold talks over a potential move for Facundo Torres, the player’s agent has confirmed.
The Orlando City forward has emerged as a January target for the Premier League leaders as they look to bring in competition for Bukayo Saka.
Arsenal’s interest in Torres is believed to partly be born out of the findings of scout Toni Lima. Since technical director Edu was appointed at Emirates Stadium in 2019, the club has shifted to a more data-led approach when identifying potential signings.
Torres only joined the MLS side in January from Penarol but has since impressed, scoring nine goals and registering 10 assists in 39 appearances.
Despite Arsenal’s move into a more data-led approach when it comes to searching the market, Lima - who was appointed in 2021 - has a strong track record of identifying South American talent and is credited with being one of the first to spot Neymar and Philippe Coutinho.
Speaking to ESPN, agent Edgardo Lasalvia confirmed he would soon meet with Lima, though stressed “there is still nothing advanced.”
