Arsenal transfer news: Calvert-Lewin says goodbyes, Ruben Neves £60m and William Saliba future

Arsenal enjoyed a huge step in the right direction at a crucial time with wins against Chelsea and Manchester United. The Gunners are now back in a solid position to take the all-important fourth spot in the Premier League.

After three consecutive Premier League defeats, many were already projecting that Mikel Arteta's side would hand the fourth place spot to bitter rivals Tottenham in the battle for Champions League qualification.

In the coming weeks, Arsenal will have two huge games against West Ham and Spurs, who hope to remain in the battle for the final UCL spot after the latter drew with Brentford last weekend. The 2021/22 campaign has brought many positives for Arsenal, with the club having a clear direction along with a good core group of players to build the future around.

This summer, though, will arguably be the club's most important one as they look to set themselves up for long-term success. Here's a look at the latest transfer rumours:

Dominic Calvert-Lewin tells teammates he wants to join Arsenal

Football Insider have reported that Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has told his teammates that he'd like to join Arsenal at the end of the season. Everton are currently in a relegation battle, and should they drop down to the Championship, a number of their players will be poached from Premier League clubs - with the England striker likely to be one of the big names available.

The 25-year-old has had a tough season this year, struggling with injuries. Arsenal will be in the market for a number of strikers with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaving in January and Alexandre Lacazette set to leave in the summer.

Arsenal in battle for Ruben Neves

A report from our colleagues over at the Manchester Evening News has suggested that Arsenal are in the battle for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

The report claims that Wolves are already looking for replacements with the club looking for as much as £60m for Neves, with the Gunners not put off by the fee and looking to add the Portuguese star to their midfield. Barcelona and Manchester United are also reportedly interest.

Neves has continued to shine in his fourth year in the Premier League, being lauded for his recent performances. He is reportedly seen as a replacement for Granit Xhaka who looks to leave the club this summer.

Marseille looking to extend William Saliba

William Saliba is yet to feature for Arsenal since signing three years ago, and he could be set to spend another year away from the club next season. Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen on making Gabriel and Ben White his preferred centre-back pairing next year, with Marseille looking to take advantage of that by taking him on loan for another season.

French outlet Le Phoceen, Marseille's president is reportedly in communication with Arsenal on a potential loan deal for the 2022/23 season.

Saliba is reportedly keen to remain in Marseille, but Arsenal are yet to make a decision.
