Arsenal transfer news and rumours: Balogun recall decision, final Tielemans bid, Mudryk latest

Arsenal are preparing to be major players in the January transfer window.

A possible replacement for Gabriel Jesus, who is out injured for potentially a number of months, has sparked the Gunners into life.

One touted option has been to recall Folarin Balogun with Joao Felix and Ukrainian starlet Mykhaylo Mudryk also on their radar.

Mikel Arteta may also want to bolster his midfield, where Youri Tielemans is one of many targets reportedly up for grabs.

Here is your latest update of Arsenal transfer news and rumours...

Folarin Balogun

The option of recalling Balogun from his loan at Reims could be tempting for the Gunners, given he has scored eight goals in 15 Ligue 1 games.

But no discussions over the 21-year-old returning to Arsenal have taken place, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It is therefore expected he sees out the season in France, perhaps opening the door for Arsenal to invest in a short-term replacement for Jesus.

One of the long-running summer transfer sagas involved Tielemans and his dwindling contract at Leicester, which expires at the end of the season.

Arsenal’s interest failed to turn into a serious bid and they may have to act fast in January, given that the Belgian can negotiate a pre-contract agreement for a free transfer abroad from the New Year.

Therefore, the Mirror report on one last push set to come from the Gunners early in the transfer window.

Mykhaylo Mudryk

Shakhtar Donestk winger Mudryk’s potential move to Arsenal is seen as a done deal inside the Ukrainian club’s dressing room.

But with a price tag topping £85million, the 21-year-old’s fate appears far from settled.

The Athletic detail contact between the club and player’s camp, who are keen on thrashing out a deal - if Arsenal’s wish of a lower fee comes to fruition.
