Arsenal told why they have Gabriel Jesus transfer advantage over Tottenham

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes Arsenal have an advantage over Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus.

football.london understands that Jesus remains open to leaving the current Premier League champions, with his representative holding talks with Edu over the course of the past few months.

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal's local rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in bringing Jesus to north London this summer, with Antonio Conte said to be keen on the 25-year-old. Spurs pipped the Gunners to fourth in the Premier League, meaning they have a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League, whilst Mikel Arteta's men will be playing in the Europa League instead. football.london previously reported that the talented striker is a player that Spurs admire.

Nevertheless, even with Champions League football, Campbell thinks that Arsenal will be Jesus' preferred destination for a few different reasons: “Jesus can go and play Champions League football,” he told the Highbury Squad on YouTube, as cited by TEAMtalk.

“But he wants to come to Arsenal, one because he knows the manager, two because he knows the system and three, which is the most important thing, he wants to be the main man.”

There's still a long way to go with this transfer as nothing has been set in stone just yet. Arsenal are desperate for a new No 9 though, and with Jesus seemingly available - especially as he has just one-year left on his deal - they will be looking to secure a deal as soon as possible.
