Arsenal have been told to sign Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister by former player Emmanuel Petit to help solve their current midfield problems. It comes as the Gunners deal with injury issues within their central ranks, causing concern over their depth during a busy period of the campaign.
Injuries to duo Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny leaves the squad thin and caused Mikel Arteta to look into the transfer market at the very last moment. A move for Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa was attempted, but didn't come off as the Gunners had to settle for their final squad.
"The club has done a phenomenal job and put everything on the table to try to bring the players and the profiles we wanted," Arteta said on summer arrivals. "We did business pretty early but unfortunately in the last 72 hours, Thomas [Partey] got injured in the same place he got injured last time and then Mo [Mohamed Elneny] has a long-term injury and we had to react in the market.
