This summer is likely to be similar, with Arteta and Edu keen to bolster the playing ranks with a Europa League campaign to run alongside the domestic cup competitions. So with the window open, what's the latest on the Arsenal transfer front? Let's take a look...

Fabian Ruiz price tag
Fabian Ruiz is one of a number of names to have already been linked with a move to north London. football.london understands that Arsenal are keen to bring in midfield reinforcements this summer, with Ruiz high on their priority list.
But he will not come cheap. Napoli are prepared to do a deal if the price is right, and according to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto on Twitter the Naples outfit will demand around €30million (£25.5million) from any club looking to do a deal.
William Saliba contract
There has been much speculation over the future of William Saliba at Arsenal. The young defender has yet to play a first team game for the Gunners, but has been touted for big things.
The Arsenal fan base are excited to see what he can do, particularly after Saliba was named young player of the year in Ligue Un with Marseille this season. Mikel Arteta has said the Frenchman has a future in north London and will integrate him into the first team setup next season.
And L'Equipe have reported that more than that, Saliba is set to be offered a new contract with the Gunners. His current deal is not due to expire until 2024.
Manuel Akanji offer
Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Manuel Akanji this summer. The Gunners do not necessarily need a centre-back during this transfer window, but they could sign the Borussia Dortmund ace for a cut-price.
The Gunners have been offered the chance to complete a deal for less than his £21million price tag this summer. Akanji's representatives are looking for a new club for him, with the centre-back told he can leave following the sacking of Marco Rose and the arrivals of Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Sule.
