Arsenal have been told that Chelsea star N’Golo Kante would turn down the chance to move to the Emirates this summer by former Blues full-back Glen Johnson. It comes as the Gunners were linked with a shock move for the Frenchman.
Should Kante join, the move could solve a problem area for Mikel Arteta, who suffered with a lack of depth last season. The Spaniard has already tried to remedy that, signing four players so far in the window and spending roughly £80million in the process.
The centre-forward role was thought to be the priority, with Gabriel Jesus ’ arrival putting an end to that. The manager will now look to move onto other areas to strengthen, with the addition of European football next campaign.

Plenty of midfielders have been linked with a move to the Emirates, from Ruben Neves to Lucas Paqueta. However, in a shock twist, Chelsea star Kante is one of the latest names linked.
The 31-year-old is in his final 12 months under contract at Stamford Bridge and football.london understands talks are yet to begin over a new deal. That, in theory, could allow the Gunners to make their move.
However, ex-England full-back Johnson doesn’t believe that to be a possibility. Speaking to BettingOdds.com, he said: “‘Any team would want N’Golo Kante, we all know what he does and what he’s going to do because he delivers every time he plays.
”I can’t see Chelsea letting him go to Arsenal to be honest. Arsenal are nowhere near a threat to Chelsea, so I can’t see N’Golo wanting to go there just yet. He’s got plenty more in the tank.”
While it may be a shock move, there are plenty of twists and turns left in the transfer window and Arsenal could yet be involved in a few of them.
