Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale claims that his call-up to the England World Cup squad is a "dream", stating that he will have to continue his hard work. It comes after Gareth Southgate announced his 26-man group of players that he will be taking to Qatar, searching for a second major honour for the nation.
A trio of Gunners make the final draft of the squad as Ramsdale is joined by teammates Bukayo Saka and Ben White on the plane in the next week or so. The goalkeeper took to social media in light of the announcement, sending out a heartfelt message to all his followers.
"The World Cup is a dream for any boy - none more so than me from Stoke on Trent," Ramsdale said. "I’ve worked my whole life to get here after watching so many tournaments and seeing players compete. It is such a privilege to be selected for this country. Now it’s time to graft even more."

While the 24-year-old has expressed his own delight at receiving a call-up to the squad, he also took time to acknowledge one of his teammates in White. The goalkeeper discussed the squad selection further with TalkSPORT, claiming he was particularly "buzzing" for the defender.
"I found out today at about ten to 12, we got a text from Emily, our player liaison,” Ramsdale told Drive. "I actually found out that Ben was in the group first and we were all buzzing for him and it kind of filtered through that me and Bukayo were in as well.
“The first reaction was we were just buzzing for Ben White. He’s been really impressive, right-back is not his main position but it’s one which he’s excelling in at the moment.
“Obviously there are a few injuries there in the group at the moment and him playing so well for Arsenal has helped him. I’m made up for him because he shows what type of player he is… he’ll give his all in any position and dedicate himself to it as well.”
It shows not only how excited Ramsdale is to represent his nation, but the camaraderie between teammates on the domestic stage too, given the news surrounding White. Both will be hoping they can take their club form into the World Cup, with the competition right around the corner.
