Arsenal signing trialled in new role and what it could mean for the summer transfer window

It has been quite the year for Arsenal youngster Marquinhos.

The Brazilian youngster was actually the first of five signings made by the north London outfit during last summer's transfer window - along with compatriot Gabriel Jesus - with his £3m move from Sao Paulo announced on June 13, 2022 before being officially completed on July 1, 2022.

From there Marquinhos was immediately involved in the first-team picture, despite comments from Edu Gaspar that suggested he was one for the future: "We’re delighted to have completed the transfer with Sao Paulo, as Marquinhos was a player we had been watching for a while," the Gunners technical director told the club's official website. "At 19, he is still very young, so he is a player for the future. We look forward to Marquinhos now joining us for pre-season, making his new home, and continuing to grow and develop with us."
