Arsenal sign Kathrine Kuhl with Denmark international joining on a permanent deal

Danish star Katherine Kuhl makes the move to North London after three seasons in the Elitedivisionen - Denmark’s top-tier football for FC Nordsjælland as well as featuring for her national senior team since April 2021 with 21 senior caps for her country so far.

The 19-year-old featured in the summer’s UEFA Women’s European Championship making two appearances in the tournament. Unable to add to her goal tally on the grand stage, she did find the net in the qualifying stages to help her team progress.

With attacking talents Beth Mead and Viviane Miedema ruled out with anterior cruciate ligament injuries and longstanding midfielder Jordan Nobbs jumping ship to Aston Villa, Arsenal Manager Jonas Eidevall is desperate for squad reinforcement and decided to bring in the talented youngster from Denmark.

Eidevall said: “Kathrine is one of the brightest talents in Europe so we’re delighted to have brought her to Arsenal.

“She will bring added creativity to our midfield and I’m sure she will benefit from working closely with some of our experienced players. I’m looking forward to working with her here at Arsenal moving forward.”

During her first senior season for FC Nordsjælland, back in the 2019/20 season , Kuhl helped her side to glory in the Danish Women’s Cup. Since then, she has made 59 appearances for the club, totalling seven goals.

So far this 2022/23 campaign, Kuhl has made 12 appearances for the club with two goals and four assists from her central midfield role. She said: “I'm very excited and am looking forward to playing for Arsenal. It's a big step for me.

“I feel like there are so many great things around the club; all the fans and the community, it's like a sisterhood in some way. So, I'm looking forward to being a part of that.”

Head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “We’re delighted to have brought Kathrine to Arsenal. She is one of the most highly-rated young footballers in the game and fits the profile of player we want to bring to the club perfectly.

“I’m sure our supporters will join me in welcoming Kathrine to our club."

Kuhl could be involved in Arsenal’s first game of the calendar year as they host Women’s Super League Leaders Chelsea on Sunday 15th of January at the Emirates stadium, kicking off at 12:00.
