Arsenal set to offload another midfielder to hand Mikel Arteta triple transfer advantage

Arsenal's focus on revamping Mikel Arteta's midfield options has accelerated in recent days with the Gunners pushing for moves for Declan Rice and Romeo Lavia.

Following last season's disappointing end, the north Londoners will be looking to build upon last campaign's second-placed finish in the Premier League. To do so, sporting director Edu Gaspar will fulfil a number of demands in the market in various positions.

football.london understands Declan Rice is a top priority, with Arsenal already submitting two bids for the West Ham star. And recent reports have suggested that they are close to an agreement with Lavia on personal terms.

Arsenal have also been credited with interest in highly-rated Brighton ace Moises Caicedo, though London rivals Chelsea are the current frontrunners.

As comes with every transfer window, players will leave and that is the case in north London. Granit Xhaka is on the verge of completing a move to Bayer Leverkusen while Thomas Partey has attracted interest from three Saudi Arabian sides.

Xhaka's move to Germany has been on the cards for over a month now but Partey's uncertain future has emerged in recent days. Both club and player appear to be open to a departure with the right proposal, with the Ghana international in the final two years of his contract.

And Albert Sambi Lokonga could be the third midfielder to leave Arsenal this summer. The 23-year-old spent the second half of the season on loan at Crystal Palace after struggling for minutes under Arteta. Now, he could be one of the many players to leave this summer.

According to the Evening Standard, Lokonga is 'set to leave' this summer and Premier League newcomers Burnley are said to be tracking his development. The move would see Vincent Kompany reunite with Lokonga after the pair worked together at Anderlecht.

Should Lokonga leave, it would leave Arsenal's midfield options very limited for next season and place further emphasis on the need to complete the Rice and Lavia deals.
