Arsenal's transfer pursuit of Gabriel Jesus sees Erling Haaland handed warning

Bundesliga legend and former Bayern Munich star Jurgen Klinsmann has warned Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland that a move to Manchester City is no guarantee of success.

The Norwegian striking sensation is rumoured to have agreed on a package with Pep Guardiola's side that would see him up sticks to the Etihad in the summer, which in turn could dent Arsenal's hopes of landing Gabriel Jesus. The Gunners have emerged as frontrunners for the 25-year-old's signature over the last few days as the future looks increasingly unclear.

It was widely expected that once Haaland arrives in Manchester, Jesus would be free to leave and join whomever he sees as the most attractive option. Rumours suggest that side is Arsenal, potentially helped by the fact that the striker has of course worked with Gunners manager Mikel Arteta before when the Spaniard was Guardiola's assistant.

Any hope Arsenal have of bolstering their depleted front line with Jesus hinges on where Haaland is playing his football next season. According to Klinsmann, the Dortmund striker should think long and hard about where he moves next.

Speaking exclusively to Mirror Football, Klinsmann explained: "He's [Haaland] a big, big piece of it for Dortmund and he can keep on giving at shot with them but if he decides to go somewhere else, which is understandable, there's no guarantee if you go somewhere else you are going to win titles.

"You see what happens in Spain right now, there's a question mark as to who makes it there and at the end of the day even in England now if he has the choice of the top four - there is no guarantee that you'll make the right choice and win the Premier League right away."

Should Haaland take heed of Klinsmann's advice, a man who has experienced both German and English football, he could look to explore the other opportunities presented by the lengthy list of other suitors sniffing around trying to secure his signature.

Klinsmann went on to explain how there is one club where Haaland could join and be safe in the knowledge that barring a miracle, a league title would be secure. "I think the only place where you could go and have a domestic title guaranteed straight away would be Paris Saint-Germain, but I think they are pretty done right now with the top three they have.

"It's actually not easy, if he entertains the thought of leaving Borussia Dortmund, where is the right place for him to go? It's not an easy decision at all."

Arsenal fans may now find themselves in a peculiar situation of actually wanting Haaland to go to City, undeniably making Guardiola's men even more dominant if it means they can get their hands on Jesus.
