Arsenal's final four Premier League fixtures compared to Manchester City in tense title race

Arsenal's Premier League title hopes took yet another blow on Wednesday night as Manchester City defeated West Ham United 3-0.

Goals from Nathan Ake, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden secured all three points for Pep Guardiola’s side, who restored their lead over the Gunners, who briefly climbed above their title rivals following a 3-1 victory over Chelsea on Tuesday. The result means City are now one point ahead of the north Londoners with a game in hand as well.

With that being said, football.london has taken a look at Arsenal’s final four league fixtures compared to the Citizens last five outings as Arteta and Co look for City’s opponents to do them a favour over the next few weeks.

Newcastle (A) - Sunday, April 7

Next up for Arsenal is a trip up north as they take on Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, a ground their season collapsed at last term. The Gunners will be desperate to avenge that 2-0 defeat but it will be a tough task considering the Magpies have lost just one league match at home throughout the 2022/23 campaign.

Brighton (H) - Sunday, April 14

Another difficult game for the north London outfit then looms as they welcome Brighton to the Emirates Stadium. Arteta’s men were able to clinch a convincing 4-2 victory at the Amex back on New Year’s Eve but the Seagulls were without key midfield duo Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, who have been in red hot recently.

Brighton won 2-1 in N7 last season.

Nottingham Forest (A) - Saturday, April 20

On paper this should be an easier fixture for the Gunners but with Forest desperately fighting for their Premier League survival, their trip to the City Ground is unlikely to be a smooth one. Steve Cooper’s side lost the reverse fixture 5-0 at the Emirates back in October but they were able to triumph 1-0 when they welcomed the north Londoners to Nottingham in the FA Cup last season.

Wolves (H) - Sunday, May 28

Arsenal’s title hopes may of course be gone by the time Wolves come to the capital on the final day of the season. But if City do slip up before then, we could be in for a tense final day as long as the Gunners can see off Julen Lopetegui’s men, who will have likely already secured their Premier League survival by the time they come to the Emirates.

Manchester City’s final five fixtures

Leeds (H) - Saturday, May 6

Everton (A) - Sunday, May 14

Chelsea (H) - Sunday, May 21

Brighton (A) - Wednesday, May 24

Brentford (A) - Sunday, May 28
