Arsenal run into next transfer rejection after Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior deals

Arsenal have been met with transfer frustration despite completing a deal for Leandro Trossard and closing in on the signing of Jakub Kiwior.

The Gunners were long linked with a move for former Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk but lost out to Chelsea as the Blues secured a huge £88m deal for his signature. Having missed out on he Ukrainian, Mikel Arteta and Edu quickly turned to their next target.

On Friday, they secured a much-needed addition in attack as Leandro Trossard put pen to paper on a move to Emirates Stadium. The Belgian winger could be followed by Jakub Kiwior, with the Spezia defender reportedly on the verge of his on switch to north London.

The pair will hope to play pivotal roles for the Gunners in the remainder of the campaign as they aim to end their near two-decade wait for a Premier League title. It seems unlikely that the north Londoners have finished their business there, either.

They have been linked with a swoop for Bournemouth winger Jaidon Anthony. The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, with the Cherries potentially being forced to sell.

Arsenal could well take advantage of that, although they face competition from the likes of Leicester, Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen. The winger’s stance could potentially complicate things further.

According to his agent, Godfrey Torto, Anthony remains keen on staying on the south coast. As quoted by the Daily Echo, he said: “In terms of the contract situation, we are in dialogue.

“I think Jaidon has always been wanting to stay at the club and I think the main thing is trying to find a fair deal that he's happy with and works for the club. But we are in dialogue and it was last left for the club to come back.

“So, that's where the situation is, basically. He is happy at the club and we are in dialogue about a contract, but we're just waiting to hear back from Bournemouth.”

Anthony, 23, has made 73 appearances for Bournemouth since progressing into the first team during the 2020/21 season. In that time, he has scored 11 goals, eight of which came last season as the forward played a key role in the Cherries’ promotion back to the Premier League.

This season, he has made eight starts in all competitions and scored three goals. Intriguingly, the youngster actually started his career with Arsenal and spent 10 years in the Gunners academy alongside the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka. He eventually joined Bournemouth in 2016 following a successful trial with the club.
