Arsenal are 'pushing' hard to beat Newcastle United to sign Lyon star Lucas Paqueta, according to French outlet Media Foot.
The Magpies have been heavily linked with a move for Paqueta just six months after signing his former teammate and close friend Bruno Guimaraes during the January transfer window. Eddie Howe's side are said to have made a £34million offer for the Brazilian international but it is also claimed that the Gunners are working hard to try and convince the player to join them in the coming weeks.
The 24-year-old enjoyed an extremely productive 2021/22 campaign with Lyon, netting 11 goals and providing a further eight assists across all competitions, earning plenty of praise from Arsenal icon Thierry Henry in the process. Speaking to Amazon Prime Video, via Foot Radio, back in October of last year, he said: “It’s early but frankly what he’s doing… we talked about it after his match at the Parc des Princes.
