Matt Turner: He's got better playing out from the back, but still doesn't quite look convincing. Nearly cost a goal in the first half with it. Should have come out for the Sporting's first but was probably unlucky for the second. 5.
Ben White: Got forward where possible, but the right side of Arsenal's attack was largely anonymous. Defended well for the most part. 6.
William Saliba: A nicely taken goal to put Arsenal 1-0 up in the first half and a superb goal saving tackle just before Sporting went ahead in the second. A mature display from the first team member of the centre back pairing. 7.

Jakub Kiwior: Should have done better to stop the first goal as he failed to even challenge Inacio. Positioning wasn't always great but some of his passing was impressive. 5.
Oleksandr Zinchenko: Some neat passing as we always expect from the Ukrainian. Could have scored a superb long range strike. Probably stupid to get involved in a scuffle after Saliba's goal which saw him booked. 6.
Jorginho: Looked to be running through treacle on one occasion in the first half when tracking back. Aside from that, pretty decent and kept possession ticking over. 6.
Granit Xhaka: Technically gets an assist for the own goal and could have scored one himself. Better going forward than he has been in previous matches, but nothing particularly eye-catching. 6.
Fabio Vieira: Was trying the hardest to force breakthroughs and played some nice balls going forward. Interesting to see him used as a false nine after Nelson went off. 7.
Bukayo Saka: Couldn't really get into the game with Arsenal struggling to ever really gain control of possession. A few nice mazy dribbles, but a quiet night overall. 6.
Gabriel Martinelli: Denied one of the goals of all time by a superb tackle from Jeremiah St. Juste. A couple of other chances aside from that where he might have done better but a decent threat up top overall. 7.
Reiss Nelson: After the fireworks of Saturday this was little more than a fizzle from Nelson. Didn't get on the ball enough to impact things and had one very poor set piece delivery. 6.
SUBSTITUTES -
Takehiro Tomiyasu: Showed his versatility by coming in from the bench to play a decent cameo at left-back. Good defending and supported the attack to a decent level. 6.
Thomas Partey: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
Gabriel: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
Emile Smith Rowe: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
