Karl Hein: The worst possible thing that could have happened to him on his debut as he slipped before compounding the error by getting up to foul Danny Welbeck. Could do little about the second goal but by that point the damage was done. Was too slow to come out for the third as well. 4.
Cedric: A decent display on his first start of the season. Defensively solid enough enough and some typically solid delivery from crossing positions. 6
William Saliba: A display that absolutely oozed class almost throughout. Showed leadership in moments as well and allowed Arsenal to get up the pitch on occasion. A bit exposed for the second goal by Brighton's movement, but a performance befitting of his place in the France World Cup squad. 8.

Rob Holding: Couldn't really do too much about either goal really. Showed his versatility by operating in both centre back positions. Showed leadership to try and pick Hein up after the error. 6.
Kieran Tierney: Got forward well on occasion but was a little slow to pressure the ball in the build up to the second goal which allowed him to be played around. 6.
Mohamed Elneny: A solid display at the base of the midfield. His influence on this squad was made clear throughout as he was constantly showing leadership on the pitch. Needed to be a bit more adventurous in possession though. 6.
Albert Sambi Lokonga: Slightly anonymous in the first half but grew into it more in the second when he started getting forward more. Probably should have scored one of his chances but didn't quite show the quality on the ball to break down the Brighton backline. 5.
Fabio Vieira: A disappointingly uninfluential performance from Vieira. He has the quality to be taking these games by the scruff of the neck but simply didn't do it. Needs to do more. 5.
Marquinhos: Worked his socks off and endeared himself to the Arsenal fans because of that. When it came to quality on the ball instead of pure industry though he was lacking somewhat. 6.
Eddie Nketiah: A superb finish for his goal. Some fantastic industry in pressing Steele that so nearly led to some Arsenal chances. Might have scored another if not for the inside of the post. Faded in influence a bit as the match went on though. 7.
Reiss Nelson: A nice assist for Nketiah's goal but still looks as though he lacks conviction in key moments when on the first team stage. Something he'll have to get over if he's to make it at Arsenal 6.
Substitutes -
Gabriel: Solid enough after coming for Saliba to share the game. Couldn't do anything to stop the third goal. 6.
Gabriel Martinelli: Did very little after coming on. Tried to have words with Gabriel about how to get in behind the Brighton backline but couldn't do it. 6.
Gabriel Jesus: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
Oleksandr Zinchenko: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
Granit Xhaka: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
