Arsenal on course for £15m double transfer boost ahead of summer window

Arsenal are in line for a £15million transfer windfall ahead of another big summer for Mikel Arteta.

The Spaniard spent more than £150m last summer, bringing in six new recruits to bolster his playing squad – but his spending spree has paid off with the Gunners on the verge of finally ending their multi-year Champions League exile. Arsenal are in pole position to clinch the final European berth ahead of Manchester United and their other top-four rivals, who are running out for games to catch the Gunners.

Even though a return to Europe represents a huge step forward for the Londoners, their squad is still in need of extensive surgery before the club can challenge for the Premier League title again.

After an underwhelming mid-season transfer window back in January, it's anticipated that Arsenal will splash the cash once again in the summer in a bid to consolidate their progress under Arteta.

And even though Arsenal will receive a huge financial boost if they can seal their return to the Champions League, the Gunners' transfer budget is set to receive a £15m bump due to the impending sale of two fringe players.

Join the debate! Do you think that Arsenal will see the season out and clinch a top-four finish? Let us know here.

According to Calciomercato, Fiorentina are in talks with Arsenal in a bid to turn Lucas Torreira's loan deal into a £12.5m permanent one. The 26-year-old has played a key role for the Italian outfit during his loan stint, bagging four goals in 25 appearances.

But Torreira has struggled to force his way into Arteta's plans and spent last year on loan with Atletico Madrid, so a permanent exit would make sense for all parties. The report outlines that the club are holding talks with Arsenal and Torreira's agent, Pablo Bentancur, 'more frequently' in a bid to wrap up a deal.

As well as their impending multi-million-pound windfall for Torreira, the Gunners are also set to rake in another £2.5m by offloading Konstantinos Mavropanos. The 24-year-old Greek international has also been on a hit out on loan, with Stuttgart keen to turning his temporary stay into a permanent one.

Mavropanos has made just a handful of senior appearances for the Gunners since he joined the club back in 2018 for a small sum. But the defender has found a home at Stuttgart, where he's spent the last year-and-a-half on loan.

Any cash that Arsenal manage to raise this summer is likely to be put towards signing a new striker. The club are desperately light in attack after giving Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang the boot at the end of January – despite the fact that they were unable to source an adequate replacement.

And with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both set to be free agents at the end of the season, the Gunners need to revamp their attacking options ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
