Arsenal news: Saka makes Premier League title claim as Jesus injury update issued

Arsenal will be aiming to continue their hot Premier League form on Sunday as they travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United.

The Gunners currently sit top of the table following their fantastic victory over Liverpool last time out, whilst they managed to follow that up with a win against Bodo/Glimt in Europe in midweek.

Ahead of their clash with Leeds, Mikel Arteta has been handed a major concern, whilst another of his squad members Bukayo Saka has made a claim over a potential title tilt. With that being said, here are the best Arsenal stories from Mirror Sport over the past 24 hours.

Saka makes Bodo claim

Saka has claimed that their struggle against Bodo/Glimt mid week will stand them in good stead to potentially continue their challenge for the Premier League crown.

The Gunners only just squeezed past the Norwegian side courtesy of the Hale End academy graduate’s strike. Speaking after the game, he said: “Thursday was a classic example - we didn’t play our best and we are not so happy with our performance. But at the end of the day the day we left with the three points.

“That’s the most important thing and we can be happy with that. It’s a big learning curve, of course, but sometimes you’ve just got to do what it takes to win.”

Arteta issues Jesus update

Whilst Saka has been one of the star performers for Arsenal this season, the same can certainly be said of Gabriel Jesus.

However, the Brazilian appears to be a doubt ahead of Sunday’s tussle with Leeds. Speaking ahead of their showdown with Bodo, Arteta said of the striker: “I don’t know [if Jesus will be fit enough for Leeds]. Obviously he had some discomfort after the game against Liverpool. That’s why we decided not to bring him [to face Bodo/Glimt]. Let’s see how he is [closer to the game]."

Marsch praises Arteta ahead of showdown

Leeds head coach Jesse Marsch has hailed Arteta as “the most underrated manager in the league” ahead of the Gunners trip to Yorkshire.

Speaking with Sky Sports, the American said: “He’s [Arteta] the most underrated manager in the league. What an incredible job. The team is complex, stable, exciting to watch... amazing job. It’s taken time obviously and he took some heat at the start.

"But they’re seeing the fruits of their labour now. We are confident at Elland Road that we can play how we want but Arsenal are very good. We know we have to be at our best against such an opponent."
