Arsenal got their Europa League campaign off to the perfect start on Thursday with a 2-1 victory over FC Zurich as Mikel Arteta’s squad rotation paid off after a number of stars impressed during that win in Switzerland.
One of those was summer signing Marquinhos, with Arteta’s transfer decision for the 19-year-old justitified after he scored the opener on his impressive debut, although Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk has given the Spaniard food for thought after failing to secure a move to Arsenal this summer.
Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium.
Mudryk sends Arsenal transfer message
Arsenal transfer target Mudryk has conceded the Gunners would be a difficult prospect to turn down should the Gunners come in for him again in January, having failed to secure a move for the Ukrainian starlet in the final few days of the summer window.
Mudryk has caught the eye of a number of European giants due to his stellar displays with Shakhtar Donetsk - with Brentford reportedly coming closest to landing his signature over the course of the summer - but his club stood firm in their desire to keep him.
In a remarkably honest interview with CBS Sports, Mudryk shed light on how close he came to leaving Shakhtar this summer and when Arsenal were cited as an example of a potential side he could potentially join, he replied: “Yes yes, it’s hard to say but Arsenal is a very good team. Very good coach, I like the way they play."

Arteta’s decision justified with next Saka
Arsenal's failure to land the signature of any of their right-wing targets may now be a blessing in disguise if the performance of Marquinhos is anything to go by, following his impressive debut in the 2-1 victory over FC Zurich on Thursday as he recorded a goal and assist.
And club legend Martin Keown feels it could just be the start for the former Sao Paulo talent, telling BT Sport: “He’s got a huge future ahead of him. That’s a real opportunity now ahead of him. Bukayo Saka is only a couple of years older himself, but such is the quality he’s going to get chances."
The Gunners were in for Raphinha and Mudryk this summer, yet lost out on both, although Arteta's willingness to end the pursuit of another right-winger could go on to be regarded as the sliding doors moment that allowed Marquinhos more game-time at a crucial stage for his development.

Edu urged to land Mac Allister
Former Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has given his approval of Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister and feels the Gunners should prioritise a move for the Argentine.
Mac Allister has been in fine form for the Seagulls this season, notching six goals in four games, with Petit keen to see him in an Arsenal shirt.
"If I were Edu, I’d make an offer for Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton – I really like him," the Frenchman told Lord Ping, while also giving his thoughts on Arsenal's chances this season.
