Arsenal news: Mikel Arteta in triple transfer blow as 'next Zlatan Ibrahimovic' to snub move

Arsenal could be set for a triple transfer blow during the summer window, according to various reports.

The Gunners had one of their most successful transfer windows in recent memory last summer as they spent a record £140million to bring in the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Martin Odegaard, Ben White, Takehiro Tomyasu, ALbert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.

But that was followed up by a miserable January window where the Gunners missed out on key targets Dusan Vlahovic and Arthur Melo.

And they could be set for more misery in the coming summer, with reports they could miss out on the 'next Zlatan Ibrahimovich', Christopher Nkunku and Brazilian wonderkid Savinho.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Arsenal headlines.

City muscle in on wonderkid

Manchester City could be about to beat Arsenal to the signing of Brazilian wonderkid Savinho, it has been claimed.

The youngster made his first-team debut for Atletico Mineiro at the age of just 16 with the Gunners said to have 'internally discussed the possibility' of an official bid in January.

But City are now set to enter the race for the young star, reportedly valued at around £5.4million.

That would deal a significant blow to Mikel Arteta's transfer plans as the club looks to reshape its first-team squad with young stars capable of increasing their value in the future.

United swoop for Nkunku

And the Gunners could be set for another blow in their plans to replace Nicolas Pepe with RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku.

That is because reports have suggested Manchester United could be set to swoop for the Frenchman on the transfer advice of interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick wants to reunite with Nkunku, who he worked with in Germany.

And they could take advantage of the fact that Arsenal would need to get Pepe off their books first in order to make a move.

'Next Zlatan' to snub Gunners

Arsenal could see their plans to sign the 'next Zlatan Ibrahimovich' go the same way as their failed efforts to sign Dusan Vlahovic.

The Serbian forward was Mikel Arteta's top target during the January transfer window but the player instead opted to stay in Serie A as he swapped Fiorentina for Juventus.

And Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca, whose towering 6ft5 frame has seen him likened to Swedish legend Zlatan, is reportedly set to join Inter Milan over a move to the Gunners.
