Arsenal news: Joao Cancelo sends Gabriel Jesus message as Supercomputer predicts title race

Your morning Arsenal digest on Tuesday, April 11.

Cancelo fires message to Jesus after Arsenal title race blow

Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo - who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich - has sent a message to Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus following the 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. The result saw the Gunners throw away a 2-0 lead as the Reds came from behind to pick up a point and hand Mikel Arteta's side a disappointing blow in their Premier League title race against City.

Pep Guardiola's side now sit just six points adrift of Arsenal, with a game in hand and potential title-deciding clash against the north Londoners at the Etihad Stadium still to play. Jesus left City last summer as he completed a £45million switch to the Emirates Stadium, followed by fellow team-mate Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Brazilian striker has been a key figure in the Gunners' title challenge this term and once again proved to make a difference on Sunday afternoon, heading home to put Mikel Arteta's side 2-0 up inside 30 minutes against Liverpool. Unfortunately for Jesus and Arsenal, they could not go on to win the game and maintain their eight-point lead over City heading into their final eight games of the season.

Wright and Carragher disagree on 'idiotic' Xhaka moment

Arsenal suffered a blow in their Premier League title race against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. The Gunners threw away a 2-0 lead against Liverpool at Anfield as they drew 2-2 - with Aaron Ramsdale's heroics in the second half stopping the result from being any worse.

A key incident that happened during the first half saw Granit Xhaka and Trent Alexander-Arnold square up to each other - causing the home crowd to burst into life. Arsenal had done a brilliant job of frustrating and quieting the Anfield atmosphere in the opening half an hour, but Xhaka was criticised for 'waking the crowd up'.

After the game, Carragher doubled down on his criticism of Xhaka's antics in the first half and insisted the moment of madness played a part in the Anfield crowd stepping up their intensity. The Liverpool legend said: "I think it did [get Liverpool going].

"It sounds silly, I'm glad Xhaka did it but I'm angry. I'm not an Arsenal fan but if I was an Arsenal fan, what are you doing?"

Supercomputer forecasts Arsenal and Man City Premier League title race

Arsenal were dealt a major blow in the Premier League title race as Manchester City closed the gap at the top of the table down to just six points. The two sides still have to face each other at the Etihad Stadium later this month along with a number of other tough tests along the way.

After the thrilling 2-2 draw with Liverpool, Arsenal are still projected to win the title but their room for error has decreased drastically as BETSiE's projected table has the Gunners winning the title over Man City by 1.2 points. The north London outfit are predicted to win four of their remaining eight fixtures, drawing two and losing two.

It could prove to be yet another title race that goes down to the final game of the season. City beat Liverpool to the title on the final day last term, beating Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium - but BETSiE's projected table suggests Arsenal will get the better of Pep Guardiola's side this season.

The Gunners have a 54.2% chance of winning the league, compared to City's 45.8% chance. As for the rest of the top four, Newcastle have a projected 93.6% chance of securing Champions League football, whilst Manchester United have an 84.7% chance.
