Arsenal news: Edu 'opens talks' for Mikel Arteta priority signing as Hale Ender commits future

Merry Christmas, Arsenal fans.

Here is your morning Arsenal digest on Sunday, December 25.

Edu 'opens' Mudryk talks

Arsenal are said to have 'opened talks' with Shakhtar Donetsk and Mykhaylo Mudryk's representatives over a possible January transfer.

According to CBS Sport journalist Ben Jacobs, the club are 'in talks' over a transfer. "Arsenal have made the move on Mudryk in the sense that they are now in talks with both Shakhtar and Mudryk's representatives," he told GiveMeSport.

"The talks with Mudryk's representatives are easy because Mudryk wants Arsenal; the negotiations with Shakhtar are a whole lot harder."

Patino extension

Arsenal have reportedly extended Charlie Patino's contract to keep him at the club until at least 2025.

GOAL's Charles Watts has today (Saturday) confirmed that the said clause has officially been triggered. Confirming the news on Twitter, Watts said: "Charlie Patino's contract clause has now officially been triggered.

"Deal was due to expire in the summer, but now extended until 2025, but not on fresh terms. Talks will now have to take place over new and improved long-term deal amid widespread interest from elsewhere."

Spain wonderkid boost

The representatives of Real Valladolid wonderkid Ivan Fresneda has claimed the 18-year-old is "ready" for big move after attracting a number of Europe's biggest clubs.

The Gunners are joined by Newcastle, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus in the race for the right-back. Ahead of the January transfer window, Fresneda's representatives have discussed the future of the former Real Madrid academy ace.

In an interview with TuttoJuve, Eco Sports, who also represent Tottenham defender Emerson Royal, explained their client's future: "There hasn't been any official offer. At the moment, only rumours that follow one another.

"We're talking about Juventus which, without a shadow of a doubt, is one of the most important clubs out there. But Fresneda is ready and up to par for a team like Juve."
