Arsenal news: Armando Broja asking price revealed as Mikel Arteta reveals plans to boost his squad

Your Arsenal morning digest on Sunday, March 6.

Broja's asking price set

Chelsea have reportedly set their asking price for young striker Armando Broja amid transfer interest from Arsenal, Southampton and West Ham, but he could prove costly on a permanent deal.

The 20-year-old has been in fine form for the Saints this season, scoring nine goals in all competitions for Ralph Hasenhüttl's men.

But if the Gunners do want to acquire the Albanian forward's signature on a permanent deal, they will have to offer around £57.8 million.

Arteta plans to raise the quality

Recently, Mikel Arteta has been showered with immense praise for the signings made last summer.

Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White and Martin Odegaard have all delivered stellar impacts and are crucial to the overall functionality of the team.

But with regards to the upcoming window, the Spaniard has spoken about how it's time to 'raise the quality'.

"We have been able to get the squad balance in a much better shape. Financially, we are in a much more stable position with the money we have spent on certain players touching the pitch for a certain amount of minutes. That balance is much better spread out across the squad.

"And now is the moment to raise the quality."

Arteta's ideal striker profile

Both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in the summer and currently don't look likely to commit their long-term futures to the club.

But regardless of what happens with their situations, it's imperative that Arsenal bring in a centre-forward this summer and Arteta has spoken about what he expects from his future striker.

"He puts the ball in the net, that’s priority number one," Arteta said when asked about what he wants from his future star striker.

"Goal threat. Any successful team needs enough goal threat in the squad. Without it, you have nothing. You can play good football but you need enough goal threat in the team.

"The other thing is that he has to complement the other people we have, personally and on the pitch, and for that, we need the right profile.

"We need a profile where you can exploit his qualities at the same time as the qualities we already have, so we don’t have to transform our way of playing again to adapt to that specific player.

"He has to have a certain age, a certain level of experience, and he has to be able to come here and play under the pressure of being at Arsenal."
