Arsenal mission to hijack Spurs' £72m dream signing confirmed by Harry Kane Man United stance

Arsenal have an excellent chance to avenge their failure of signing Dusan Vlahovic by stealing Tottenham’s Harry Kane replacement.

According to Calciomercato, Lautaro Martinez could leave Inter Milan this summer, with Arsenal interested in signing the forward.

Both The Gunners and Spurs fought it out for the Argentine’s signature in last summer’s transfer window, but the forward instead opted to sign a new contract at Inter.

However, with his recent development and Kane reportedly heading for the exit door in the summer, the two rivals could be set to battle it out for Martinez once again in the upcoming transfer window.

According to the Daily Mirror, Kane is open to reuniting with Mauricio Pochettino amid reports that the PSG manager would target him if he becomes the next Manchester United manager.

If Kane was to depart, then Tottenham would not have another registered striker in the squad and would likely look to reignite their interest in Martinez.

However, Arsenal can prevent Spurs from replacing Kane with the Argentine due to the club’s own problems surrounding the striker situation.

The current starting forward for Arsenal is Lacazette but his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and according to French outlet L’Equipe, his former club Lyon are interested in resigning him.

If he does depart from the club then Arsenal could be left with just one recognised striker in the form of Folarin Balogun. Nketiah’s contract is also set to expire at the end of the season and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Barcelona means that Edu would have offloaded three forwards within the space of six months.

There is also an extra incentive to sign a striker from the Serie A after the club’s failure to secure a deal for Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window.

Edu was pushing hard to sign Vlahovic, football.london understood, but the club could not persuade the Serbian striker to join the club despite him being the number one target.

When it became clear that he was choosing Juventus over Arsenal, the club seemed to fail to draw up a plan b, meaning the Vlahovic failure had a major say in the north London side’s transfer window.

Martinez would be an excellent acquisition for the Gunners and the incentives they have to sign him alongside the qualities he possesses should be enough for Edu to do what it takes to sign him.
