Arsenal midfielder drops team news hint on Instagram as Mikel Arteta faces nightmare scenario

Thomas Partey has been active on social media ahead of Ghana's friendly against Brazil and it would appear that he is in line to make an appearance on Friday evening.

The Arsenal midfielder is part of the Black Stars squad for their final preparations ahead of the World Cup despite missing four games in a row due to a recurrence of a troublesome thigh injury that has affected him ever since completing his £45m transfer in the summer of 2014.

Furthermore, as the injury ultimately brought Partey's 2021/22 season to a premature end, it's no surprise that the Gunners have been cautious with regards to releasing the 29-year-old for international duty especially with 14 games to play across three competitions before the World Cup gets underway.

So much so that it has been reported that Arsenal have sent the Ghana Football Association a detailed regiment on how to use the midfielder during the international break to ensure he avoids another injury setback all the while getting the necessary minutes under his belt to build up his match sharpness.

Speaking ahead of the Brazil fixture, Ghana head coach Otto Addo suggested that the performance of players at club level will play a key role in his starting XI: "I will not declare there is pressure, but this is the job as the coach; you always have to find difficult decisions," he said. "Also, let’s take it like everybody is doing bad; then it is also a difficult decision.

"This is the way we want to have it; we want our players to have success at their clubs, we want them to score but also to defend well, to play well, and have assists. So, it’s not only about scoring. Surely scoring is the obvious thing for everybody but we are monitory all the players and looking at their performances.

"This is for us the measurement. Previous games, performance at their clubs, and they are still training. Also, our style of play, our opponent players, and what we need going into the game. The performances at the club is taking a big part in the decision-making. We try to bring everything together and then we take a decision. It is very complex, but in the end, we will decide."

With that said, going by Partey's social media activity it seems he will play a part against Brazil - whether that be as a starter or as a substitute remains to be seen - as he posted an image on to his official Instagram account doing his very best to hype up the clash in Le Havre, France.

However, it should be noted that Partey has also done this in the past for Arsenal games that he's missed. Although it does comes after he made a successful return to action in last weekend's 3-0 win over Brentford, coming through 78 minutes unscathed before being replaced by Albert Sambi Lokonga.

If the midfielder does feature for Ghana, then it could be an anxious 90 minutes for Arteta and Gunners supporters to endure as the thought of another injury would be a nightmare scenario of the North London Derby against Tottenham immediately following the international break.
