Arsenal may have teased £34m transfer announcement with three-word message on Twitter

In confirming that Eddie Nketiah has signed a new contract and handed the No. 14 shirt ahead of the 2022/23 season, Arsenal may have also teased a transfer announcement.

After a few weeks of hints and theories, the former England U21 international has officially put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium - thought to be five years and worth around £100,000 a week thus keeping him at the club until the summer of 2027.

In truth, Nketiah seemed as if he already had one foot out of the door as recently as April as up until the middle of that month he hadn't started a Premier League fixture all season and therefore it appeared the writing was on the wall with regards to leaving upon the expiry of his old contract.

But things can change very quickly in football and Nketiah is evidence of that. He started Arsenal's final eight games of last season, scoring five goals - including a brace against Chelsea - to prove he is more than capable of being part of Mikel Arteta's plans moving forward.

As a result, he has been rewarded with a new contract much to the delight of his manager: "I’m delighted Eddie is staying with us," the Spaniard told the club's official website. "He represents what we are all about and all the values of the club. We are very happy that he has extended his contract and now we have to get to work and continue to develop the great talent and person that we have in him."

With that deal done, does that mean Arsenal's business for the day or this weekend is over? Well, judging by the tweet used to announce Nketiah's new contract, the club just might have something in store for supporters very soon.

Perhaps interestingly, the start of the tweet reads with a simple three-word message of: 'Just getting started'. Could this mean the Gunners' social media team are preparing for another announcement that is related to a new signing amid an £34m agreement with Porto for Fabio Vieira?

It was confirmed by the Portuguese club on Friday morning that an agreement is in place for the transfer of the midfielder with the Gunners paying £30m up front and then a further £4m in bonuses taking the overall package to €40m (£34m): "Deal complete for the amount of €40m, and of these, €5m are dependent on the achievement of sports objectives," Porto's statement read on Friday morning.

Now, with transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano claiming on Friday evening that Vieira has signed a five-year deal with Arsenal and that he has successfully completed a medical, is an official announcement from the club forthcoming or was the aforementioned tweet simply a mere coincidence?
