Arsenal are set to extend Mikel Arteta's contract with club chiefs impressed with his progress.

The Spaniard left Manchester City as Pep Guardiola's assistant in 2019, taking over from Unai Emery who struggled to make much of an impact at the Emirates.

Arteta made a promising start, winning the FA cup and Community Shield off the bat. But the 39-year-old has also endured some rough patches.
