Arsenal line up Declan Rice transfer alternative as Liverpool discover 'Turkish Messi' price

The summer transfer window is officially open for business - and a number of big-name players could be on the move.

Manchester United reportedly want to sign a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer. Figures at the Old Trafford club have decided a new starting goalkeeper is essential amid doubts over David de Gea's future.

Kylian Mbappe's future at Paris Saint-Germain is once again up in the air, reportedly placing Real Madrid on red alert. The superstar forward reportedly wants to leave the French champions this summer.

And below, we have taken a look at the latest news relating to Liverpool’s main competitors ahead of the new campaign.

Youssouf Fofana

Arsenal are lining up Monaco star Youssouf Fofana as an alternative to Declan Rice after West Ham rejected three bids for the England international.

That’s according to French publication L'Equipe, which is reporting that the Gunners are battling Newcastle United and West Ham United for the midfielder. The Hammers are, it is claimed, demanding a fee of £100m for Rice.

The 24-year-old had a superb season at the French club, with those impressive displays leading to speculation linking him with a host of clubs across Europe. And a report from the Daily Mail back in May claimed that one of the sides interested in securing his signature was Liverpool.

James Maddison

Tottenham Hotspur want to thrash out a deal with Leicester City for James Maddison this week, the Telegraph claims.

The report, by John Percy, claims that Maddison is a priority target for new Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou, and Tottenham are now pushing hard to agree a fee with relegated Leicester in the next few days.

It is also claimed in the same piece that Leicester are demanding up to £60 million for the attacking midfielder and that Newcastle United have also been targeting the 26-year-old. However, the Magpies have now cooled their interest as they prepare to complete the signing of Sandro Tonali from AC Milan.

Arda Guler

Fenerbahce wonderkid Arda Guler reportedly has a clause that allows him to leave for under £15m after he clocked up 1500 first-team minutes.

That's according to the Mail, which is reporting that Liverpool, along with Newcastle United and Manchester City, are well aware of his talent, while Ajax and Real Madrid have also been linked.

The 'Turkish Messi' has made 51 appearances over the past two seasons, scoring nine goals and adding 12 assists in all competitions. The report claims Fenerbahce believe the youngster may stay for another season following their Champions League qualification.
