Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has laughed off any suggestions that Liverpool 'aren't going to do something' this season. The Reds have struggled in their opening nine games of the season but picked up a much-needed victory over Manchester City last weekend.
Jurgen Klopp's side have picked up only three league wins this season and currently find themselves 8th in the Premier League table. However, after suffering a 3-2 defeat to the Gunners previously, the Reds thumped Rangers 7-1 in the Champions League and condemned City to their first defeat in the league,
Their difficult start to the season comes on the back of lifting the League Cup and FA Cup last season, with them finishing as runners-up in the league and Champions League. Many have ruled Liverpool out of replicating their previous success of previous seasons, with Arsenal seemingly replacing them as Pep Guardiola's main challenger.

However, Wright has backed Klopp's men to get themselves back into the top four and has rubbished talks of them failing to achieve anything this season. "People writing off Liverpool and saying, 'the title is out of it', maybe that is the case, but there's no way that Liverpool aren't going to do something.
"They have too many good players. The manager is brilliant. I think that's a significant win for them," he told Premier League Productions.
"It has to be for Liverpool (aiming for the top four). It has to be. I still look at it now and see the way Liverpool performed in that game. They can get on a run.
"You can't see Liverpool not being in the top four. I thought it was silly for people to say, 'oh, Liverpool are out of it now. Klopp's going to have to build and transition'.
"Well, we saw what they could do to Man City there. A very good Man City side."
