Ian Wright believes that Tammy Abraham can be the answer to Arsenal’s issues up front after his scintillating form for Roma won him an England recall. The 24-year-old has scored an impressive 23 goals so far this season for the Serie A side.
The Gunners will be in the market for forwards in the summer after they failed to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following his move to Barcelona in January. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah could also be on their way out of the club, with both strikers out of contract in June.
Abraham was linked with a move to the Emirates last summer after it became clear he no longer had a future at Chelsea. The former Blues striker endured a wretched final season at Stamford Bridge, scoring just six goals in 22 Premier League appearances. However, it was Jose Mourinho’s Roma who won the battle to acquire his services.

Given his prolific campaign thus far, Abraham is in contention to go to the Qatar World Cup at the end of the year. And the Giallorossi striker would likely be Gareth Southgate’s preferred choice to start up front in the absence of Harry Kane.
Wright admitted on his Wrighty’s House Podcast that he would love to see his old side revive their reported interest in Abraham. He also believes that the Roma star would thrive in Mikel Arteta’s swashbuckling side.
“Tammy has the hunger to finish the chances that Arsenal are not finishing right now," Wright said. “They are making chances but someone is not in there taking them. Tammy is at that stage now where he would be in there gobbling all that up.
“I think so [he’s ready now]. Absolutely. He’s gone to Roma and it’s a massive club and he’s the main man, he was from the first game.”
