Arsenal hero Lauren has claimed that current Gunners goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale should be England's No.1.
Ramsdale has registered 12 Premier League clean sheets this term whilst also being a key cog in his side's build-up phase given his elite ball-playing skills under pressure. His most recent performance was arguably his best in an Arsenal shirt, producing a number of late saves during Sunday's 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
Now, former Gunners right-back Lauren has argued that the 24-year-old should be England boss Gareth Southgate's first-choice 'keeper ahead of Everton's Jordan Pickford. Speaking to sportingpost.com, he said: "A top team needs a great spine, and at the top of the spine is the goalkeeper.

"Ramsdale has been brilliant all season and yesterday (Sunday) he made two amazing saves when it was 2-2 in a difficult moment. He’s one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League and I’m sure he’ll be pushing to start for the England national team soon.
"I also think it highlights good strategy from the club. They signed a player with great potential, and that has now become a reality. He’s been proving it all season and I think he’s one of the best in the League."
Lauren isn't the only one who has backed Ramsdale to become The Three Lion's No.1. In fact, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta declared back in September that the former Bournemouth youngster merited the reward of being England's goalkeeper for the 2022 World Cup. The Spaniard said: “It would be a good reward for him for what he has done.
“I hope he is [picked for the World Cup]. I think it would be great for us and Aaron. He showed in the last year what he is capable of doing. We will be watching and waiting for that decision.”
Of course, Pickford was picked ahead of Ramsdale during the tournament as Southgate's side were defeated 2-1 by France in the quarter-finals.
