William Saliba
Arsenal are hoping to see Saliba back in training soon after suffering a back injury against Sporting CP a month ago.
The trip to Manchester City looks like it will come too soon for the centre-back with the final games of the season his current target. The latest reports suggest this week will be crucial in seeing how the issue develops, with physios fearing an early return would aggravate it.
Last week, Arteta issued his latest update on Saliba: “He’s progressing well and we’re hopeful that we’ll have him available in the next few weeks. We’ll have to see.”
Oleksandr Zinchenko
A groin injury ruled Zinchenko out against West Ham after the Ukrainian picked up the issue a week earlier at Liverpool.
However, Arsenal are optimistic that he will be fit to return against Southampton on Friday night.
Arteta said: “He had a musclular issue at the end of the match at Anfield last week, he struggled in the last few minutes. We assessed him, he wasn’t fit enough to play.”
Takehiro Tomiyasu
Tomiyasu has been ruled out for the rest of the season after injuring his knee in the Europa League tie with Sporting.
An operation was required and carried out last month, leading to confirmation of the Japan international’s long lay-off.
Mohamed Elneny
Also out of the run-in is Elneny, following his own knee surgery in January.
Arsenal announced that the midfielder will miss an “extended period of time”, believed to be running into the summer.
