Arsenal in transfer battle for Galatasaray star as Edu takes key decision in Darwin Nunez race

Arsenal are pushing for Champions League qualification this season and sit in pole position ahead of the rivals as we endure the lull of the international break.

Their most recent Premier League victory came at Villa Park at the weekend, where the Gunners edged The Villains by one goal to nil. The win leaves the north London outfit in fourth place, three points ahead of arch rivals Tottenham, whom Arsenal have a game in hand over.

Regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League, however, Arsenal will be looking to strengthen in the summer, primarily in the central forward and midfield areas. With that in mind, football.london has rounded-up some of the latest transfer rumours surrounding the club.

Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Galatasaray winger Kerem Akturkoglu this summer. After Spanish giant Atletico Madrid and French side Lyon sent scouts to follow the 23-year-old footballer to matches against Beşiktaş and Barcelona, the two Premier League clubs have also entered the race as likely suitors.

Galatasaray executive Isitan Gun confirmed that much when he admitted that there's clear interest in the winger: "Kerem Akturkoglu had a very good season last year and is one of our best players this season," he said. It's too early, but two Premier League teams and some La Liga teams have already expressed their interest in Kerem Akturkoglu."

The report adds that Arsenal are ‘a few steps above’ the likes of West Ham United and Newcastle United in pursuit of the 22-year-old. Whether Arsenal sign Nunez is a different question, but if reports are to be believed, the early signs are indeed encouraging.
