Arsenal icon tells Mikel Arteta what Gunners must do in Champions League race with Tottenham

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour says that Mikel Arteta's side must show more belief heading into the final stages of the Premier League season. The Gunners have lost three of their last four domestic games and now sit fifth behind North London rivals Spurs, although with a game in hand still to come.

Arteta's men were lacklustre in their most recent 2-1 defeat at home to Brighton, with goals from Leandro Trossard and Enock Mwepu sinking the side. With Spurs still yet to come on May 12, the clash could perhaps present a chance of a crucial six-pointer given the two sides' respective aspirations this season.

But with Manchester United and West Ham both slipping up this weekend too, former Gunners midfield Parlour says that it is time to draw a line in the sand and focus on what is still left to play.

He told Talksport : "It's been a bad week for Arsenal and being an Arsenal fan. But look, they've got a chance. Look at the table, they've got a game in hand. Goal difference is going against them because Spurs are doing so well.

"You've just got to believe in yourself. As a player you've got to sit in that dressing room and say: 'Come on lads, we've still got a great chance, we're in a great position, let's give it everything we've got till the end of the season and see what happens.' Whether they're good enough, I don't know, we'll see what happens.

"They've got Chelsea coming up, some big, big games. I think that week where they've got Chelsea, Man United and West Ham, they've got to probably get seven points out of those games to give them a chance. Whether that's going to happen, we'll wait and see."
