Arsenal have brought in throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark to boost their title bid.

In a move to further strengthen their set-piece prowess, the Gunners have turned to the man who is regarded as the world’s leading throw-in coach.

Gronnemark, who helped Liverpool become champions under Jurgen Klopp, has been working with Arsenal as a consultant as Mikel Arteta seeks more marginal gains.

Arsenal are already most prolific scorers from set pieces in the Premier League, converting from 12 corner kicks this season thanks to set-piece coach Nicolas Jover.

Now, in a season in which goals from throw-ins have spiked, Gronnemark has been speding time at the Arsenal training ground to share his knowledge and techniques.

Gronnemark is a pioneer in throw-in coaching and spent five years in Klopp’s backroom team at Liverpool. After he moved to Anfield in 2018, Liverpool won the Champions League that season and then their first Premier League title in 30 years the next.

He helps teams use throws to retain possession and initiate attacks. At Liverpool, he was also able to improve the throwing abilities of individual players.

Arteta is seeking the smallest advantages to give Arsenal the edge in the title race.

The Gunners are six points clear of Manchester City and Aston Villa at the top of the table and have become the kings of set-pieces under Jover.
