Arsenal have announced the signing of former Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.
The former Napoli star has joined Mikel Arteta's side for a deal worth £10million in guaranteed fees with a further £2million in add-ons, football.london understands. His contract will be until the summer of 2024, with the club holding the option of an extra year - a deal that Manchester United should have pursued, according to former England international Lianne Sanderson.
"I think it’s a great signing. £12million? What a great signing that is," Lianne Sanderson told Sky Sports when asked about Jorginho 's imminent move to north London. "I don’t want to bring it back to Manchester United, but you’d think Manchester United would have been knocking on the door given the injury to Christian Eriksen.

"He would have been the perfect signing. It’s a great signing for Arsenal, I like Jorginho."
The Italian will likely come in as cover for Arsenal's first-choice holding midfielder Thomas Partey, who has suffered from several different injuries since joining from Atletico Madrid back in October 2020. Egyptian international Mohamed Elneny has previously been Arteta's backup No.6, although the Gunners confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that he is facing an extended time on the treatment table following an injury to his knee.
Their club statement read: "Following an injury sustained in a recent training session, subsequent assessments have confirmed that Mohamed Elneny has a significant injury to his right knee. Mo has had successful surgery in London and will be ruled out for an extended period of time.
"A more detailed timescale will be established once the early stages of rehabilitation have been completed. Everyone at the club will be offering Mo all the support he needs and working hard with him so he can return to action as soon as possible."
