Arsenal have clear deadline to complete Raphinha and Lisandro Martinez transfers

Arsenal have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the transfer window to date, with the Gunners already completing three summer signings.

Marquinhos became their first addition after he arrived from Sao Paolo, while Porto's Fabio Viera joined in a deal worth around £35million and USA goalkeeper Matt Turner made the switch to the Gunners last month. A fourth signing is imminent, however, with Gabriel Jesus set to join from Manchester City.

The Brazilian international is expected to wear the No.9 shirt and will lead the line for Mikel Arteta's side following Alexandre Lacazette's departure this summer. Jesus scored 13 goals in 41 appearances for City last term as they lifted the Premier League title for the fourth time in five seasons.

But the Gunners' summer business is not anticipated to stop there with Arteta keen on signing a defensive player and either a winger or a midfielder. Ajax centre-back Martinez is someone who Arsenal are interested in bringing in after he impressed under Erik ten Hag last campaign, helping them to the Eredivisie title.

The 24-year-old has many suitors, though, with Manchester United competing with the Gunners for his signature. Ben White and Gabriel were Arteta's first-choice central defensive pairing last term, and with William Saliba returning from his successful loan spell at Marseille, Martinez could find game time hard to come by.

However, Arteta's men are competing in Europe and are expected to perform much better in the FA Cup after they were dumped out by Nottingham Forest in the third-round. There will be at least six more games in the Europa League, while they could also replicate their semi-final run in the Carabao Cup.

Raphinha is the other offensive player that is firmly on the Gunners' radar, although they are facing a three-way battle for his signature with Barcelona and Chelsea. It had been revealed Thomas Tuchel's side 'reached a full agreement' over the transfer of the Leeds United man but it seems as though he is keeping his options open.

And according to Football.London, Arsenal are "very keen" to get business done before they head out to their pre-season tour of America. The Gunners head out to the States on July 13th ahead of matches against Everton, Orlando City and Chelsea over the course of their two-week stay in USA.

They also added that there will be a "much clearer" picture on the state of the Arsenal squad by that date due to Arteta's intention to get their business done, rather than wait until the end of the window. Only Tottenham Hotspur have made more senior signings than the Gunners in the top-flight so far with four.

Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Richarlison make up Spurs' business so far as Antonio Conte tries to make Tottenham into title challengers. Liverpool, meanwhile, have made three additions in the form of Darwin Nunez, Calvin Ramsey and Fabio Carvalho. Manchester City are also on three, while Chelsea and Manchester United have both failed to sign anyone as of yet.
