Arsenal have had a far from ideal January transfer window so far, having yet to make an addition to their squad in the first two weeks. Mikel Arteta may need support in getting a deal over the line, given the current state of his side going into the latter half of the season.
The Gunners sit top of the Premier League at the halfway stage of the campaign, putting them in prime position to put together a title challenge. However, the desire to add quality in depth is still there, given how huge the remaining few games will be to the season as a whole.
"We knew the importance of getting players early in the summer and that is the same we want to do in January," Arteta said on deals back in late December. "This is idealistic. Sometimes it is not realistic. But obviously, if you ask my opinion, as quick as possible we want the players in to get settled.”

The priority for the north London club was to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk. However, he ended up making the switch to Chelsea. A move for a winger could still be on the cards, however, with AC Milan's Rafael Leao and Napoli's Kvicha Kvaratskhelia now linked.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed a move for both is unlikely, saying on Youtube: "I see many rumours or maybe Arsenal fans saying about Rafa Leao, Kvaratskhelia – Kvaratskhelia is 100% not leaving Napoli in January – and for Leao Milan would only accept crazy proposals.
“But at the moment that’s not even the case, Milan want to extend his contract and for Leao the situation is very clear, he’s expected to stay at Milan.”
It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will end up securing a transfer in the next few weeks as scouting steps up over an alternative to Mudryk.
