Arsenal handed Martinelli, Xhaka and Tomiyasu boost with World Cup trio to return to training

Gabriel Martinelli, Granit Xhaka and Takehiro Tomiyasu are set to return to Arsenal training this week football.london understands. The trio were all eliminated in the World Cup quarter-finals and second round respectively this week and have been given some time off after participating in the tournament.

They will be the latest set of players to join the group after Ben White, Thomas Partey and Matt Turner all arrived in Dubai to take part in training on Sunday. Sources are insisting that White left the England squad due to personal reasons despite some reports suggesting it was due to a bust up with assistant coach Steve Holland. Turner and Partey meanwhile went out of the World Cup in the second round and group stage respectively.

The trio could all be involved in the squad for Tuesday's fixture with AC Milan. It will be the second game Arsenal play in the Dubai Super Cup after their 3-0 victory over Lyon on Thursday. It is currently unclear if Martinelli, Xhaka or Tomiyasu will be available in time for that match.

It is also unclear yet when Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale will join up with the camp. The pair were eliminated from the tournament in Qatar after England's 2-1 loss to France in the quarter-finals on Saturday, and it is thought Arsenal will consult with the Three Lions before deciding a plan for the duo.

The Gunners will fly back to London in the evening after Tuesday's friendly with Milan after which they will play one more friendly with Juventus on December 17 before the Premier League returns on Boxing Day with a home fixture against West Ham. As things stand their only player still remaining at the World Cup is William Saliba, who has made just one appearance for France.
