Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the summer. The Gunners weren't the only club linked with the 23-year-old, with Manchester United also mentioned.
According to Italian news outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen would have been happy to join the Gunners, but a move never materialised. In fairness, it's not worked out too badly for Arsenal, as Gabriel Jesus has proved to be a revelation since joining the club from Manchester City.
However, things could have been different if Edu and Mikel Arteta had opted for the Nigeria international. Given Jesus signed a five-year deal at Arsenal this summer, it's unlikely that Arsenal will go back in for Osimhen any time soon, and the striker looks set to stay at Napoli for the long term anyway.

Osimhen's representative Roberto Calenda has claimed that the striker's will is to stay at Napoli. He has three years remaining on his current deal at the Serie A giants.
Calenda told Radio Kiss Kiss: "We haven't found out now that Osimhen is the subject of interest from so many teams.
"But things are done in three: who sells, who buys and the player. But I, the boy and Napoli had very clear ideas. Whoever talked about a departure made a mistake.
"It was Victor's will to stay at Napoli and play the Champions League that he won entry to last year together with his teammates. Victor wanted exactly that, to have a great year with Napoli, between the league and the Champions League.
"He has a long contract with the Azzurri. The market is dynamic, but our will is to continue at Napoli and continue to do well."
