Arsenal handed major Raphinha blow as Mikel Arteta 'confident' about midfield transfer

Now that the transfer window is officially open, things are starting to heat up. A number of moves have already been completed as negotiations continue over signings across the world.

For Arsenal, there are a number of high-profile players linked with a switch to the Emirates as Mikel Arteta looks to improve his squad. The Spaniard’s transfers worked out well last summer and he'll be looking for similar success this time around too, especially after completing his first transfer of the window in Brazilian teenager Marquinhos on Monday.

Although the Gunners narrowly missed out on a top four finish and Champions League qualification, Arteta will be hopeful that his side can go one step further next campaign as a result of better squad depth. With that said, here’s a look at the latest rumours linking players to the club.

Pablo Mari

Raphinha

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, via SportWitness, Leeds United winger Raphinha and his agent Deco are 'stopping each and every offer' from clubs other than Barcelona as the talented winger is said to have his heart set on a move to the Nou Camp.

Arsenal have been linked with the former Lille star in recent days.

Youri Tielemans

Arsenal have been in contact with Tielemans’ representatives for more than a month, according to HLN. The report claims that the Gunners are convinced that they can wrap up the deal 'fairly quickly' as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his midfield options.
