Arsenal handed major Gabriel Jesus transfer boost following Man City contract twist

Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus if recent reports are to be believed.

The north Londoners are desperate to sign a top-class frontman in the summer transfer window after allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona back in January whilst both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are into the final three months of their contracts at the Emirates Stadium. football.london understands that City star Jesus is on the club's shortlist of profiles and technical director Edu has been in discussions with the player's representatives in recent times.

Now, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that there are no conversations taking place between the Citizens and Jesus' representatives regarding a potential new contract at the Etihad Stadium. The Brazilian international is into the final 15 months of his deal with Pep Guardiola's side and Romano claims that the Gunners will likely open formal talks with City at the end of the current campaign.

Earlier this week, the 25-year-old addressed his future with the reigning Premier League champions, claiming that he isn't thinking about the transfer window, at this moment in time. “Not time to think about this,” he said when quizzed about a potential summer exit.

“You expect me to say this and it’s true. Not time to think about this, now is the best moment of the season.

"I want to enjoy it, keep focusing on my team-mates to fight for the Premier League. I’ve won with my teammates three times already so I know how it feels and I want to again."
