Arsenal are set to back manager Mikel Arteta in the transfer window this January with further reinforcements to his squad, according to recent reports. It comes as questions arise over whether the Spaniard has a deep enough selection of players at his disposal to be able to challenge for the title.
As things currently stand, the Gunners are top of the Premier League with 10 wins from 12 games played so far, looking to remain there heading into the mid-season break for the World Cup. However, the congested fixture schedule could make for a tough campaign if the side wish to fight on all fronts.
"Every day I feel responsibility to protect them, to guide and get the best out of them," Arteta said when asked whether he feels a responsibility to rotate players. "We are playing for Arsenal at the moment and that is what they have to focus on. When they play for England or their national team they have to focus on the national team."

Current champions Manchester City have been able to build their squad over many years to a point where they have such quality in depth, which is a journey Arsenal are still on. However, as each window ticks by and young players continue to progress, they take a step further.
With Arteta's project in full swing, his impressive start to the campaign looks set to be rewarded with some more backing in the transfer market. That's because the Telegraph reports that at least one signing is set to be made during January, with a winger being the predominant target.
The manager is said to want more competition in the final third and a permanent deal could show yet more faith in his process during a window that the Gunners have traditionally steered clear from. Loan moves have been the usual form of reinforcements in recent winter transfers, but it would show a huge change in approach if that were to switch.
It could prove to be an important moment in the season for the Gunners, handing them a potential title boost along the way.
