Arsenal half time player ratings v Chelsea as Martin Odegaard stars and Gabriel Jesus good again

Aaron Ramsdale: Some really nice distribution to find Gabriel Martinelli as a reminder of what he's capable of. Some decent sweeping as well as he was relatively untroubled. 7.

Ben White: Moved out to right back from the start and played the role well as an inverted defender. Good in possession and solid defensively when one-vs-one. 7.

William Saliba: Just looks so classy and never seems phased. One moment of excellent positioning to snuff out a Raheem Sterling attack showed his quality reading of the game as well. 8.

Gabriel: The Brazilian looked nice and solid at the back. Good in the air and solid in the tackle. Had to stay switched on against the Chelsea counter and did it well. 7.

Oleksandr Zinchenko: A really solid debut for the Ukrainian who kept up the Arsenal left back tradition of shooting wildly from distance on his week foot. Some excellent passes and good positioning despite the questions that have been raised over his defensive capabilities. 7.

Thomas Partey: Looks comfortable at the base of the Arsenal midfield and keeps them ticking. Efficient as ever in possession and resisted the Chelsea press well. 7.

Granit Xhaka: An excellent first time assist from the Swiss international who had some nice moments on the half turn in the left eight role. 7.

Martin Odegaard: A really well taken goal from the Norwegian who knitted things together beautifully for Arsenal in the final third. Could have scored another and was excellent throughout. 9.

Bukayo Saka: Spurned his best chance of the game when through one-vs-one, but was a good threat down the right and linked well with his teammates. 7.

Gabriel Jesus: Such a classy finish from the Brazilian. The kind of goal Arsenal simply wouldn't have scored last season. Pressed hard and didn't give Thiago Silva a moment's rest. 9.

Gabriel Martinelli: A real pest to the Chelsea back line down the left. Nullified Reece James' threat while providing plenty of his own which was capped off by a lovely assist. 8.
