Arsenal given double contract boost as Reiss Nelson and William Saliba sign new deals

Both William Saliba and Reiss Nelson have signed new contracts with Arsenal, football.london understands.

Saliba has signed a new four-year deal, with no option to extend by a further 12 months. It ends speculation over the Frenchman's future after an impressive debut season last time out. His current deal had been due to expire next summer, but the fresh terms mean he is set to extend his stay in north London until 2027.

Nelson has also signed until 2027 but with the option for a further year. The Hale Ender had had serious interest from AC Milan and Brighton, but ultimately committed his future to his boyhood club. It is thought that Mikel Arteta played a key role in negotiations to convince the 23-year-old to stay after his previous deal expired on June 30th.

The news continues a busy week for Edu and Richard Garlick who also managed to secure the future of highly rated academy star Ethan Nwaneri. The 16-year-old became the youngest player in Premier League history when he made his debut against Brentford in September, and will continue his development at Arsenal despite interest from Chelsea, Manchester City and several sides abroad.

Elsewhere the Gunners have also reached a total agreement with West Ham over the structuring of a deal to bring in Declan Rice. The England international will become the club's most expensive ever player at a guaranteed £100 million with a potential further £5m in add-ons.

A deal has also been struck with Ajax to bring Jurrien Timber in for a guaranteed €40m, with a potential further €5m in add-ons. The Dutchman's arrival should take Arsenal's summer spend to over £200m before a ball has even been kicked in preseason. Arteta has been keen to get the majority of his squad together before the Gunners travel out to Germany next week and the USA for 11 days after that.

Arsenal are also keen to bring in plenty of money through sales this summer. A €25m fee has already been agreed with Bayer Leverkusen for Granit Xhaka as football.london exclusively revealed earlier this week. The Gunners are also open to letting Thomas Partey, Nuno Tavares, Cedric, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nicolas Pepe, Folarin Balogun, Runar Alex Runarsson and Auston Trusty go, but at time of writing are yet to receive any formal offers.
