While Arsenal enjoyed a successful summer transfer window, there were plenty of players linked with the Gunners who didn't end up making the move to the Emirates Stadium. Bids were made for the likes of Raphinha and Douglas Luiz, but players moved elsewhere or stayed at their respective clubs.
Another player whose name was mentioned with a move to Arsenal in the summer was Cody Gakpo. Linked with a host of other clubs, a transfer never materialised for the PSV Eindhoven forward, but football.london understands the 23-year-old has been on Arsenal's radar for some time.
Gakpo chose to stay in his native Netherlands this summer, but the Gunners may be presented with the perfect opportunity to sign the highly sought-after forward in January or next summer. According to Voetbal International, the Dutch side could be forced to sell their star.

The report states that PSV need to make a significant sale before July 2023 in an attempt to balance the books for this financial year, and with Gakpo one their star players, it casts doubt over his future. He had plenty of admirers during the summer, and given Gakpo's start to the season, it's likely that clubs will still be circling for the Dutchman's signature.
In the Eredivisie, Gakpo has directly contributed to 14 goals in eight games, while he's also scored in his only Europa League appearance. He will face the Gunners twice this month in the Europa League, which could act as an audition for Gakpo if Edu and the recruitment team at Arsenal have retained their interest in him.
With Arsenal's attack clicking at the start of this season, Gakpo would be by no means a regular starter if he joined Arsenal, but he would provide competition in the wide areas for the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.
